Usage

Seed Selection

The first thing you should do is select a seed and version. You can either type it in manually, or you can load it from your savegame. The latter can be done by clicking on «Load from Save…» and selecting your level.dat, or by drag&dropping the level.dat file into your browser window. Level.dat is a small file located in the folder of every Minecraft savegame. You can find the savegames in the saves folder of your Minecraft installation. On Windows you can use %appdata%\.minecraft\saves to get to that folder.

You should also know that a seed is always a number (up to around 20 digits). If you type in anything else (like letters), it will be converted to a number. The app does this the same way Minecraft does, so it’s safe to use letters (and other characters) as well.

Dimension and Feature Selection

Below the seed and version, you can also choose the Minecraft dimension that you want to view (Overworld, Nether or End). This, and the version you use, will affect which features can be enabled. To toggle certain features, click on the icons in the features box just above the map.

You can also expand and collapse features box by clicking the arrow on the right side of the box to show the full names of the features, as well as some more options.

Note that some features will only show if you zoomed in enough. This is to keep the app fast and to not flood it with icons. The app will show a warning and all affected features will be highlighted once that happens.

Navigation

Once you entered all the options you can start using the map. To scroll, use your arrow keys while your mouse cursor points at the map, or move your mouse while holding down the left mouse button. You can use the slider below the map or your mousewheel for zooming. The lower inputs allow you to go to a specific point (e.g., your base) of the map and set a marker there. You can always remove and add the marker by double clicking on the map. The «Save Map» button allows you to save the currently shown map as png image file.

Selecting structure locations

You can click or tap on the icons on the map to see their exact coordinates in the game. For some structures, additional details are shown as well.

Touchscreen

When using a touch-enabled device, an extra option for enabling/disabling touchscreen control will appear below the map. With that option enabled, you can drag the map with your finger to navigate, you can pinch to zoom in and out, and you can tap and hold to set a marker on the map. By double tapping on the map, you can quickly enable/disable the functionality as well.

Water world

This seed won’t catch your eye for its scenic sights, nor will it make a particularly quaint home. It will, however, will put your survival skills to the test. Players start off by spawning inside an underwater shipwreck and you’ll need to escape in order to survive.

It’s up to you to salvage the shipwreck, fish for consumables, and search your watery surroundings for any useful resources. HydroPunkBot’s biome is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re up for a challenge, then this world seed will do just that. 

How to find the seed of a Minecraft world

In this part we will be discussing how to get the seed of an offline map, so skip to the next part if you want to see how to get seed for an online map. 

Note: This guide is for the java version of Minecraft which is available on Windows and macOS.

Steps to find the seed of a Minecraft world

Now follow the simple steps to get the seed of your Minecraft map.

1.  Power on your device and open Minecraft.
2.  Open the chat window in the game by pressing “t” while you are in the Minecraft map.

How to find the seed of a Minecraft world

1.  Once the chat window opens, enter the command “/seed” in the window.

1.  Press enter and the seed will be visible in the command window.

1.  Now click “t” again and select the seed, the seed will be visible in your command window. Press and hold “Ctrl” and use the arrow to navigate, once the seed is selected, press “Ctrl + C” to copy. And now you can minimize the game and paste the seed wherever you want.

How to find the seed of Minecraft server

Now getting the seed of a map from a server can be difficult because players can not enter commands which means “/seed” will not work. The commands will only work if you are the admin of the server or are given admin privileges.

But if you like a server’s world and want to make it your server’s world or just want to play privately on it, you can use World Downloader Mod. Click here to visit the site. Using this mod you can download the world from any server and can use the seed command, or play with your friends in your own Minecraft world. And in case the server is yours or you have the admin privileges, you can copy the Minecraft world file and paste it in your private worlds folder. But in case you are playing on someone else’s server, there is no easy way of getting the seed easily. But there are some ways you can get the seed, we will be using the reverse mod for the guide.

Note: The following guide is for Minecraft version 1.15.0 or later.

Follow the simple steps to get the seed:

1.  Visit the “Fabric” and download the mod on your device and click here to visit the site.

1.  Click on “Download installer (Windows/.EXE)”. Once it downloads, install it and a pop-up must open.

1.  Now select the version of your current Minecraft version by clicking on “Minecraft Version”.
2.  One done, click here to visit the Github link for “SeedCracker”. Or you can click here to directly visit the latest version of the mod.

1.  Click on “seedcracker-0.2.2-beta.jar” and once it downloads, open your Minecraft folder and create a “mod” folder. Simply create a folder for the mod with any name.
2.  Once done copy the “seedcracker-0.2.2-beta.jar” in the “mod” folder.
3.  Now open your Minecraft and select “fabric”.

1.  Select “fabric-loader” and click on “Play”.
2.  Now join the server of your choice and open the command box with “t”.
3. Enter the command “/seed data bits” and the seed will appear. Just copy the seed by clicking on the seed and pressing “Ctrl” and using the arrow key to select, press “Ctrl + C”.

Простенький сид, но если углубится в него, то вы явно подвергнетесь в шок. Потому-что в этой деревне будет находиться 8 кузнец. Деревня достаточно большая и получается, что промышленная.

Шахта возле бедрока

Это самая низкая шахта в Майнкрафт. Я никогда не видел шахту на такой глубине, прямо возле бедрока. Интересно будет побывать там вместе с друзьями.

Особняки, в которых есть комната с спавнерами, считаются редкими. Но в этом особняке целых два таких спавнера.

А сама атмосфера вокруг ада жуткая. Везде будет лава. Такое чувство, будто бы этот сид был создан специально Mojang.

Compatibility[]

Seeds are not compatible across editions, but are sometimes compatible with the older and newer versions. However, after Village & Pillage, the villages and other generated structures changed.

Java Edition seeds between Alpha 1.2.0 and Beta 1.7.3 are mostly the same. Beta 1.8 changed world generation completely, and Release 1.2 changed locations of land biomes with the addition of jungles. Release 1.7.2 rewrote the world generation entirely, determining the arrangement of land biomes and oceans that is still present in the current version‌[until 1.18]. 1.13 featured addition of underwater caves, new aquatic biomes, and adjustment to locations of mutated biomes and structures. 1.14 included the new bamboo jungle biome, and added snowy tundra villages and pillager outposts. In 1.16, shipwrecks and ocean ruins were made rarer, and four new biomes were added to the Nether. World generation is overhauled in 1.18,‌[upcoming] with the addition of bigger caves, biomes in caves, new mountains, and changes in terrain height. Not mentioned are structure additions in several updates throughout, but the addition of a generated structure usually does not require a complete change of biome generation.

Legacy Console Edition seeds were updated in a similar schedule to Java Edition equivalents.

In Bedrock Edition, the 0.9.0 update was the only update to overhaul world generation. Oceans were changed in the Update Aquatic. Villages and other structures were changed in Village & Pillage. 1.17.0 changed the location algorithm for some structures such as dungeons. World generation is overhauled in 1.18.0‌[upcoming], becoming the second update to overhaul the world generation entirely, with the addition of bigger caves, biomes in caves, new mountains, and changes in terrain height.

Until 1.17, certain seeds share a similar biome map across Java and Bedrock with some terrain differences and no similarity in generated structure locations. From 1.18 onwards, all Bedrock Edition seed numbers share a similar terrain and biome map across Java and Bedrock, but still with no similarity in generated structure locations.

It’s not every day where you generate a new Minecraft biome and be greeted with such a diverse cluster of locations. This amazing seed features 11 biomes which are all neatly clustered together, so you won’t need to trek far in order to reap the resources from each area.

If that wasn’t enough, you spawn in the very center of the map. Why not take a sandy stroll through the mesa plains, then cool off in the lush green forests? You’ll definitely never want to leave this picturesque biome. 

12-Eye End Portal Seed

Minecraft seeds in which your world’s End Portal generates with all 12 Eyes Of Ender already assembled and activated are extremely rare. You won’t just stumble upon one by chance, most likely. Here’s one you can load up to use for your own survival adventures. When you’re ready to hit the fortress, head to coordinates X: 1146, Y: 63, Z: -637. Right beneath you is the room adjacent to a fortress’s activated End Portal. Before you rush off to the dragon though, you’ll probably want to hit up the nearby desert and jungle villages for supplies.

Coastal Village with docked ship

MicrosoftThis coastal seed even features a fantastic ship that’s docked right by it!

Fancy a trip to the seaside? This coastal village is right by the spawn location, even featuring a cool-looking ship docked outside of it. With plenty of opportunities to mine and an entryway to the Nether not too far away, there are lots of uses for this seed.

While this seed was created for 1.16, one player notes that it does work on 1.17, but the ship spawned in a slightly different location. Still, it’s an incredibly cool place to set up a base before heading out and exploring the world.

Village temple

Minecraft is home to some incredibly tranquil areas and this world seed certainly proves that. Most Minecraft villages are invariably found in rather dull areas of the map, but this one can be found nestled below a gigantic mountain. If that wasn’t striking enough, the village church overlooks the village from atop a snowcapped peak.

While MrCappzz didn’t give any other details regarding the seed’s resources and locations, this cozy village is worth a visit alone.

If you thought mintymoes’ 11 biomes at spawn seed was good, then you’ll definitely want to add this seed to your collection. BigBrain5Head hit the Minecraft world jackpot when he spawned a world with every single biome and all rare biome variants. This means you can set up your home and instantly get access to the game’s best resources.

To make matters even better, every biome is within a 2500 block radius of the spawn. This instantly cuts down the annoying treks between each area, saving you huge amounts of time. BigBrain5Head is certainly worthy of their name. 

Biome Melting Pot

This Bedrock edition seed doesn’t dump you right where you want to be, but trust us it’s totally worth teleporting to. After you spawn, use the /tp command to send yourself to the coordinates (-185, 64, 117). You’ll find yourself right at the edge of a mushroom biome looking across a very small ocean at a badlands biome, a jungle, some mountains, a tundra, and even some ice spikes. It’s quite a lot of rare, desirable biomes all tucked into one area—perfect for anyone looking to sample just a little bit of almost everything Minecraft has to offer. If you head into the ice spikes, you’ll find a tundra village not too far away too.

Summary

We saw How to find the seed of a minecraft world in an offline map or on a personal server and how to copy it. However, finding the seed of a map on a server can be tricky. We would suggest you download the map files of the servers from the net rather than taking the seed way. But if you need to find the seed of that particular map, we mentioned the mod you will be required to achieve the same.

Note that in the case of Minecraft PE we are using version 1.16.2, and the seeds may not work for older versions. We tried several seeds from other sites and they were not working for the latest version. It is safe to say that most of the sites are outdated as of August 2020. Requirements

Seed

For technical reasons, you need to know the seed of your world to use Biome Finder, unless, of course, you want to find a seed for a new world. If you’re playing SSP, the app is able to fetch the seed from your savegame. Alternatively, you can use the /seed command ingame. In SMP, you can use the same command if you have sufficient rights. Otherwise, however, you’re dependent on the server owner, who started the world and has access to the savegame and config files.

Technical

This app uses some relatively new web technologies. As a result, some features may be disabled for older browsers. I recommend using the latest version of a major browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.

Massive Village

This seed will have two villages in which one of the villages has a blacksmith and you can get some sweet armor and weapons. The other village has an end portal which will be useful once you decide to enslave the dragon, or we can say do some awesome things. The NPCs will give you a sense of belonging in the vast world of the Minecraft world.

 Lava mountain

Seed: 98450566

Do you want to have a view of lava fall from the safety of your house? This seed will give you the amazing experience of watching the amazing lava flowing from the top to bottom with spectacle to behold. And the Clift is more than just a beautiful site, there are mineshafts where you can find iron, coal, diamond, and much more. This will make your Minecraft PE experience even better and we would highly recommend this seed.

 Village with a desert temple

It is always fun to play with NPC and build your massive structures in or near a village, getting a view of the whole village from your window. This is something I enjoy a lot, and this can improve the experience of a newcomer or solo player.

 Jungle mansion

Seed: -1776160415

This seed will get you to an amazing mansion in the middle of the jungle. However, the mansion is filled with zombies and other monsters so don’t go in there unprepared. Witches will kill you most probably if you are not prepared with potions and armor.

Note: You need to travel a lot for finding the mansion, so use the in-game coordinates as it will make your work a lot easier.

 Perfect Village 

Seed: 1349679922

This is a small village compared to the rest of the seeds but gives a feel of a regular village with NPC doing their work. This seed is good if you are planning to stay around your house or structure for a while in the game. We would suggest you give it a try, it can be a little boring looking as the biome is not very rich. 

 Massive coastal village

Seed: -056747

This seed is one of the best villages as it is rich with different biomes and gives a rich world feeling. We would highly recommend this seed and you should build a castle with a view of the entire village. This is one of the seeds in which any of your creations will just pop out. Plus point is that you don’t have to travel a lot to find the village, it’s just in your field of view.

World generation[]

Whenever the game has to generate a new world, it calls upon an algorithm known as Perlin noise. This algorithm outputs a pseudo-random value that is then used to determine the characteristics and features of the world. However, the algorithm always outputs the same value each time for a constant starting point (seed). Thus, the same seed generates the same terrain every time.

A world’s seed is set when that world is created. By default, it is decided automatically, but it can also be set manually. Setting and reusing a seed from one world generates the same world. Either a number or a word/phrase can be used, including negatives. If a word/phrase is used, it is converted into a 32-bit integer.

Whenever the world generation algorithm is updated (usually by adding new biomes to the game), the same seed no longer generates the same terrain. If the seed or generator changes in a saved world, new chunks are based on the new seed and no longer match those from the old seed. In Java Edition, major (terrain-breaking) changes were observed with Alpha v1.2.0, Beta 1.8, 1.7.2, and 1.18‌[upcoming]. Deleted chunks can regenerate if the seed and generator remain the same, but changes if either the seed or generator changes. In fact, deleting chunks is sometimes done to let newly-introduced features appear in an old world; see Tutorials/Updating old oceans in 1.13 using MCEdit.

Because seeds are simply random values read into an algorithm and not actually names of different worlds, using a certain seed does not result in a world with any relevance to the value of that seed. For instance, using a biome name as the seed does not necessarily result in the creation of a world with primarily that biome, nor does it spawn the player within the said biome.

Pyramids in a plain village

The main attraction of this seed are the pyramids in what seem to be a very plain Minecraft village. While it may not be anything groundbreaking, it definitely is out of the ordinary.

What does the map show?

Biomes. The colour of the map corresponds to the biome at that point, e.g. blue for ocean. You can hover or click to get the biome name displayed on the info panel. What you build doesn’t effect the biome so won’t show up.

Shading is an indication of how hilly the area is – it doesn’t correspond to the exact hills in the game as I can’t do that quickly enough at this scale.

The markers show where things like temples are, most of them are turned off by default so as to not accidentally spoil your game. If you created a map from a level.dat save then a player icon will track you as you play.

What the hell is level.dat and where do I find it?

It’s the file that Minecraft stores your seed and player position in for a given world. A level.dat will be in each of the folders at:

• Windows: %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\saves
• Mac: /Users//Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves
• Linux: ~/.minecraft/saves

What is a seed?

The seed is a phrase, word or number that fixes Minecraft’s random number generator in a fixed pattern. You can set it in the Minecraft world creation options, or by default you are given a random one. If two maps are made with the same seed they will be identical. The wiki has more info.

How do I find out what my seed is?

You can use the “/seed” command (Press “t” then type “/seed”). This may be disabled on some servers unless you are admin/OP.

The map is wrong! You suck!

Calm down dear, it’s only a website. There are a few things that can cause this:

• You added a space at the end of a seed, making it different
• Even though you are running Minecraft 1.8 your terrain might have been generated in a previous version if you have an old world.
• Your world is set to large biomes which MineAtlas doesn’t support. Yet…

Does it work for xbox/ps/Colecovision?

Based on what people are telling me (I don’t have one) it doesn’t work as the console version has different terrain – anyone know what PC version it corresponds to?

Will there be an option to see the Nether and The End?
I might think about putting in Nether Fortresses as their location on the overworld where you need to make a portal.

For technical reasons, you need to know the seed of your world to use Seed Map, unless, of course, you want to find a seed for a new world. If you’re playing SSP, the app is able to fetch the seed from your savegame. Alternatively, you can use the /seed command ingame. In SMP, you can use the same command if you have sufficient rights. Otherwise, however, you’re dependent on the server owner, who started the world and has access to the savegame and config files.
