Game modes

According to the trailer, official site and a Square Enix press release, there are four game modes.

As mentioned in a in the video description (at youtube) of the second trailer, «As you start your journey as an agent, Rico Rodriguez & Annika Svensson will be among the mercenaries you’ll encounter, giving your player character missions and intel.»

It should be noted that Rico’s profession is not a full-time mercenary, even if it is stated in the posts.

Single-player campaign

Main article: Category:Just Cause: Mobile Missions.

The game is set in Pradesh, a fictional nation. The player plays as a customizeable protagonist, who is an Agency recruit and later Firebrand agent. From what can be seen from early access gameplay, the story seems to focus around the Agency’s conflict with Darkwater, remnants of the now disbanded Black Hand, as well as the protagonist’s hatred of Rico Rodriguez, who allegedly killed the protagonist’s family.

Quote from an article from some sort of Square Enix «press»:

«Experience an all new action-packed story set in the Just Cause universe. As a member of the Agency’s secret program, Firebrand, explore large open-world locations and take on Darkwater forces and form alliances with well-known characters from past Just Cause iterations.«

Quote from a post on the official Just Cause Mobile Discord server:

«Rico Rodriguez & Annika Svensson are among the mercenaries you’ll encounter, giving your player character valuable intel as you start your journey as an agent!
In Just Cause: Mobile, you play as a new recruit in a special ops division named Firebrand. Rico will be one of the characters you meet as you take on a new militarized threat… Darkwater.«

As revealed over social media on 2021.05.31:

«Your first day as a new Firebrand agent gets off to an explosive start! A private army known as Darkwater attacks your base, leaving chaos in its wake. Your task is to investigate Darkwater and uncover its true motivations before regional tensions escalate into something worse…«

Co-op battles

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Team up in a 4-player squad to complete challenging missions where players will take on waves of enemies. Select the perfect loadout and blast your way through tough enemies like heavy tanks and armoured mechs!«

«Triple threat» multiplayer

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Compete online in fast-paced Just Cause multiplayer! Three teams of 10 players fight to secure bases and score points as they battle across a sprawling map while wielding an explosive arsenal of weaponry & vehicles. Players can also form clans with teammates to earn big rewards.«

Challenge mode

Quote from the Square Enix press:

«Looking for an extra challenge to test your skills? Challenge Mode will task you with hitting high scores across three distinct challenges ranging from causing destruction to getting the best lap time. Earn extra rewards for your agent by completing the Destruction, Wingsuit and Race challenges.«

Description

They are a pro-government militia and work alongside the Medici Military. Rico and The Rebellion are their enemies.

They drive brown Stria Facoceros marked with their flags at either end and «D.R.M.» painted on the sides.

In some mission subtitles they are called «DRM» (without punctuation). The Rebellion and Alessia refer to them as «Di Ravello‘s militia».

They are dressed in red and brown uniforms with some wearing police riot gear and helmets.

Militiamen are easy to kill, as they have bad aim missing Rico at even close range most of the time, and only two shots from a U-55S is enough to kill them. Elites can take more, thanks to their armor, but have the same aim as the normal Militiamen. With their military body armor, Captains are about as tough as a Medici Military machine gunner, but the grappler or explosives can do the job.

Factions

Medici Police Department

According to pre-release promotional materials, the Medici Police Department was supposed to be in the game as a functional police force, but this was cancelled. The modifying community has found models and script settings for them in the game files.

The police is still mentioned in the collectible Di Ravello tapes.

Mafia

Just like the police, model and script remains still exist in the game files. According to the «The art of Just Cause 3» book that comes with the collectors edition of the game, Looch is one of the mafia characters. The book also has about 10 drawings of different mafia member heads.

These guys were likely armed with the «GuitaRPG» weapon.

Black Hand

Apparently there was another character model called «Elite» that for unknown reasons, didn’t make it into the game. It heavily resembles the in-game «Aegis» character model, of which, it is possible that «Elite» was renamed to «Aegis» and the old Aegis model (second character from left) was scrapped. (See gallery below)

Risks to health and environmental and other hazards

Icon for the achievement «The Power of Bavarium». This is presumably the symbol of bavarium related hazards, similar to the real world chemical weapon symbol.

Bavarium technology seems to be some type of parody of nuclear fission technology.

  • Requirement for vast mining and refinement industries.
  • Ability to increase the power of weapons.
  • Bavarium itself sounds to be, by name and by how it’s spoken of, a fictional chemical element.

However, pretty much nothing is known about any possibly harmful waste materials from the refinement, bavarium batteries, or the bavarium reactor. The fact that bavarium has a hazard symbol proves that it is certainly hazardous.

It is unlikely that bavarium is a relatively «clean energy». It’s more likely that the waste is being disposed of somewhere off-screen.

Waste gas from refined bavarium

As shown in the mission Conflicting Interests, «refined Bavarium» does produce waste gas that the Medici Military disposes of by venting it into the atmosphere. It’s possible to detect the Bavarium content of the gas with a smaller than fist size scanner.

Standing at the exhaust vent with out protective gear (and presumably inhaling the gas) did not seem to have any effect on Rico. Dimah Ali Umar al-Masri, the world’s leading Bavarium scientist, didn’t even mention any possible harmful effects to Rico when sending him there. This does not necessarily prove that it’s harmless, just that either the harm was negligible and/or that the effects are still unknown even to the top scientists.

Bavarium radiation

Bavarium-based weapons don’t seem to have any lasting effects and the destruction of Bavarium batteries doesn’t cause any detectable harm either.

The only known source of Bavarium radiation is the open-top core of the Bavarium reactor at Corda Dracon: Centcom, which kills Rico in a matter of seconds.

History and culture

For ancient Medici, see Ancient Medici.

Medici is full of ancient Greek/Roman-style temples, ruins, and forts, showing that the island had been inhabitated by humans for at least several thousand years. Ancient Medici was a warzone between Rome and Carthage during the Punic Wars, as the two empires frequently battled for dominance over the island. The people of ancient Medici seemed to revere bulls, as several dozen temples around the island have an altar dedicated to a bull. Freshly-potted plants can be seen around them, indicating recent activity and implying that some people still worship the bull. There’s also many new cathedrals and monastery-looking buildings, but, strangely, at least one of those also has the same bull head sculpture on its wall. Several sets of ruins also have 3 meter tall statues of women and mysterious magical obelisks.

Medici was invaded by barbarians during the fifth century BCE. After that, Medici was taken over by Ancient Rome, who named the islands Medici. During this time, the capital city was Manaea. Rome invested a large amount of money into the construction of the large aqueducts (see Gallery). This indicates that Medici was a relatively well-developed and valued province to Rome.

Medic contains the ruins of several star forts, but little is known about the nation from those eras. A few settlements and small cities are said to have been founded around the time of the renaissance, and it is also heavily implied that Medici was fractured into over a dozen city-states during these times.

In more recent history, one of Medici’s military bases is known to have been destroyed by unknown forces during World War 2. It is also known that Medici was a notable power in the Cold War, as evidenced by the in-game map description of the settlement Cima Leon: Silo, which states that: «The Silo of Cima Leon is a remnant of Medici’s early nuclear ICBM tests during the Cold War». However, it’s unclear weather Medici actually had a nuclear program, or whether it was simply complying with its NATO allies.

Insula Striate is divided by a large concrete wall. The northern areas contain modern Military bases in Medici and ruined towns. The towns were all destroyed in an event known as The burning of the north. There are multiple minor hints and good theories, but no definitive evidence to logically explain it.

In the recent years, Medici went through a civil war.

The Medician language is a combination of Mediterranean languages. The actual spoken language depends on the user-defined game language (list in the infobox above).

Many towns have street musicians (who only appear after town liberation by The Rebellion) and football fields.

Medici has relatively many sports cars. Though this is dependent on if the player has liberated the town

Civilians are often seen smoking, and judging by advertisements love their alcoholic beverages.

Увеличить файл подкачки, если не хватает оперативной памяти для Just Cause 3

Чтобы компенсировать недостаток оперативной памяти, можно увеличить файл подкачки. Это позволит системе хранить часть необходимых Just Cause 3 данных прямо на жестком диске. Вот что нужно сделать:

  • Открыть «Проводник»;
  • Правой кнопкой нажать на «Этот компьютер» (или «Мой компьютер»);
  • В контекстном меню кликнуть на «Свойства»;
  • В открывшемся окне слева нажать на «Дополнительные параметры системы»;
  • В открывшемся окне перейти на вкладку «Дополнительно»;
  • В разделе «Быстродействие» нажать на кнопку «Параметры…»;
  • В открывшемся окне перейти на вкладку «Дополнительно»;
  • Снять флажок с параметра «Автоматически выбирать объем файла подкачки» (если есть);
  • Поставить флажок напротив опции «Указать размер»;

Remnants of the original soundtrack

There are a number of usable sound files, featuring unused music.

Now they could only be useful for modifying the game.

It could be parts of the original soundtrack composed by Henry Jackman, from before it was decided to get a new soundtrack from the composer Zach Abramsonm. Or these could be the sound files that would have been associated with the cut mafia faction.

They are located at: «patch-JustCause3/archives_win64/game7.arc/sound/fmod_banks/diegetic_music»

One would need the some modding tools to unpack the game archives, to get to these files, but they are all listed below here.

Description

This is the headquarters for the military in Insula Fonte.

This place is the headquarters of all the military troops stationed throughout the Insula Fonte region, and as such it can be assumed that from here, all military operations carried out on the island are coordinated from here. The deployment of troops throughout the island is also organized to maintain the military presence for all the locations and the dispatch of reinforcements to all units when they need it anywhere.

At the entrance, there is a large gate/door, similar to what are in police stations. A bit before the entrance on the road up to the compound, there is a metal guard tower. It has a large tower, which is similar in appearance to a flak tower or an air traffic control tower. There are buildings surrounding the tower, which is in the middle of the base.

It has a FOW guarding it that is replicated by the handheld Dionysus PLDS-H. The FOW is an airstrike delivered by a CS7 Thunderhawk.

The in-game map description says «Built on the ruins of an ancient Salirosan fortress, Cima Leon’s CentCom Tower is the bastion from which Di Ravello’s regional commanders keep Insula Fonte under strict control.»

Kasabian Trailer animated sequence

The beginning sequence of the «Kasabian Trailer» is animated and features multiple things that don’t exist in that form in the final game:

  • Suspension bridge that resembles the bridges around Panau City. There are no suspension bridges in Medici.
  • Rico’s Mugello Vistosa does not have a spoiler. Originally the rear end of that car was indeed different. See above in the «Mugello Vistosa rear end» section. The different Vistosa still exists in the game files, allowing some Modifications (PC only) to spawn it for use.
  • The CS Navajo in the video is armed with a machine gun, in addition to the missiles. In the final game it has two types of missiles and no machine gun.
  • The Urga Postolka in the video is armed with a single machine gun in the front center. In the final game it has two, mounted under small wings on the sides.
  • Rico is armed with an unknown rocket launcher. There are several Rocket Launchers in Just Cause 3

    It could be a Fire Leech in beta form. The design looks vaguely similar to it.

    , but not that one.

Performance

Out of all the land vehicles in the game, the Garret has the highest top speed. It is very difficult to control at high speeds. When upgraded to level 6, a turret is added to the rear. The Garret, when fully upgraded, is the only vehicle fast enough to make the jump over the canyon located at X:11345 Y:23620. It is capable of outrunning the Panau Military. It can even outrun hostile choppers if it’s driving on a flat, straight road. It’s not very durable and takes damage relatively quickly. This makes the mounted turret impractical, though it’s still a good choice for hit-and-run missions because of its speed capabilities. It’s also good for drifting.

Description

The wingsuit is a set of small wings attached to Rico’s clothing to allow the player to glide through the air while Skydiving. During skydives, the player already glides forward, but the wingsuit enhances this and allows completely horizontal movement. Powered wingsuit versions (DLC only) can even allow upward flight.

JC3

In JC3, the wingsuit is provided to Rico by Dimah during the mission Time For An Upgrade. Later, the Sky Fortress DLC adds weapons and an engine to it. This improved version is called «Bavarium Wingsuit«.

JC4

The standard wingsuit is back in JC4. There is also an upgraded «Sky Striker Wingsuit» (previously known as «Black Hand Prototype Weaponized Wingsuit» in early promotional materials) as a preorder bonus (later added as a DLC that can be purchased by anyone). This version has a small rocket engine and can launch missiles.

In JC4 the wingsuit has been redesigned a little, to make the wings extends further along Ricos side. They’re still only as wide as his arms, but the end of a wing is now near his knee.

The JC4 wingsuit (and parachute) can both have optional different looks. Some of these were provided as pre-order rewards, some have been announced as downloadable content for Just Cause 4, but most of them can be unlocked by completing various in-game tasks.

Just Cause Mobile

Wingsuits are available in JC:M for at least a few (maybe more or all) Firebrand members (the player). Little is known, but the player should be able to activate the wingsuit and glide in the air, via some sort of button on the mobile device.

Soundtrack and music

Just Cause 4 has many different soundtracks. They are used in different times of the game. The soundtracks can be divided into five main categories:

  • Combat music. This is a collection of dramatic action songs that are played during heat and sidemissions including region strikes and Sargento, Garland and Javi sidemissions. Most of these are electronic songs.
  • Exploration music. This is a collection of calm songs that are played when the player doesn’t have any heat, is not doing any missions and is flying around in his wingsuit (without heat). The songs also play when hoverboarding without heat.
  • Special mission music. These are unique songs that are played during main storyline missions. Operation Thunderbarge, Windwalker, Sandstinger and Illapa all have unique soundstracks that are only played when the player plays these said missions. These are similar to combat music, but are unique and play only in missions.
  • DLC music. This is a collection of songs that are played when the player is in areas added by DLCs or is playing DLC missions.
  • Other. All other soundtracks fall into this category. Songs include ones that are played during specific loading screens, cutscenes and credits.

Here are some (but likely not all) of Just Cause 4’s soundtracks:

  • Very long playlist of OST ripped from the game.
  • Another pretty long playlist of sountracks from the game.
  • Yet another playlist, this one shorter.
  • A mix of combat soundtracks.

In-game radio

JC4 is the first game in the series to have radio stations in vehicles. These stations each play a selection of about 10 different items of music and they have some DJs talking. Solís Hoy is a news channel that discusses news and local rumors. The content of this channel changes throughout the storyline.

See:

  • Category:Radio Stations.
  • Category:Media.

Trailer music

Just Cause 4’s trailers use music composed by Artizan, a musical group. Click here for a playlist of all their songs used in JC4 trailers.

Just Farm / Farming Simulator 15

This is a Just Cause 3-themed DLC for the game Farming Simulator 15.

The following announcement info is a quote from the official JC site and the Farming Simulator site, where it was posted on April 1, 2016:

«Fresh from his latest assignment to rid his beloved homeland Medici of a vile dictatorship, our hero Rico Rodriguez is taking a break from destruction to try his hand at tending the soil of Farming Simulator 15 in a FREE DLC UPDATE.
Coming this summer, Just Cause 3’s iconic STRIA RUSTICO tractor will debut in Farming Simulator 15. Repurposed by Rico to aid the rebels in their revolution, Just Cause 3 showed that there was nothing that the Rustico couldn’t do, now it’s time to see what its trademark havoc causing can bring to the world of harvesting.
The Rustico being the latest in a long line of fantasy inspired agricultural rides that Rico could borrow in the Just Cause series. Known as the “Medician workhorse” the Stria Rustico could be seen throughout Medici working the fields and was pride of place at many farmsteads in the glistening Mediterranean paradise.
Long praised by Medici’s for its reliability and unprecedented haulage, the Rustico will be adorned in its sun weathered coat of paint from Just Cause 3, but that is not all… As the Rustico comes to you straight from Medici, this version will be equipped with nitrous boosters as per Rico’s specification adding an extra layer of danger and excitement to your ploughing– it’s pretty difficult to pull off contour farming whilst being propelled uncontrollably at speeds of 80mph or more.
Using the Rustico will also change your farmer’s appearance to that of Medici’s favourite son Rico Rodriguez, hero of the Just Cause games complete with his famous grappling hook and wingsuit (hopefully your tractor doesn’t get airborne, but then with Rico anything is possible).
The Just Cause 3 DLC for Farming Simulator 15 including the Rustico and Rico farmer skin will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One this summer.«

By 2021 the above links linking to the announcements both redirect back to the game’s home pages (Just Cause and Farming Simulator respectively).
