Street fighter x tekken

Gameplay[]

«It’s a little too early for you to be on your back already.«
—Poison

Poison’s fighting style consists of acrobatic flips, grabs, slaps, violent whip attacks and dirty tactics. Her gameplay in SFxTK is mostly based on her footsies and zoning, and she can mix-up her opponent fairly well.

Poison also has two unique attacks. The first being an elbow drop, where it hits overhead and can be comboed into. The second is a backflip that goes back pretty far and can be used to evade attacks or to get out of a bad situation.

Story[]

Background

King was a street urchin, brought up in a Mexican orphanage owned by the original King. He worked with King until one day, news broke of the first King’s death at the hands of the monstrous creature known as Ogre. With no money, the orphanage would crumble into nothing, so he donned King’s mask and imitated his style, but he lost every competition he entered. One day, another masked man visited the new King, introducing himself as an old friend. He revealed himself to be Armor King, and offered to train the new King out of respect for his friend. After four years, he matured into a forceful wrestler known as King II, a worthy heir to the throne.

Tekken 3

After hearing news of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3, King II was entered into the tournament by his mentor to see how well his training would pay off against the toughest of competitors world-wide. King also seeked revenge against the elusive Ogre. King began a successful career as a luchadore after the tournament, but he and Armor King still missed their friend.

Tekken 4

King discovered that his master, Armor King, had been killed in a bar fight. The perpetrator, Craig Marduk, had been arrested in Arizona and was sent to prison. Upon Marduk’s release (thanks to bribes paid by King himself), King sent a letter challenging Marduk to the tournament. King defeated Marduk and sent him to the hospital, where King followed him to deliver a deadly blow. However, he stopped after seeing a portrait of Marduk and his elderly parents. King puts the portrait on Marduk’s chest, and leaves, realizing how foolish he had become.

Tekken 5

Marduk donned a black jaguar mask and challenged King to a rematch via television. Enraged by the assault on his master’s honor, King resolved to settle the score in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5.

King met Julia Chang along the way, who asked King to stop fighting just because Marduk called him out. When King refused, Julia tried to stop King on her own, but King was the victor in their match. After two more rounds, he had the chance to fight Marduk, who adamantly said he would beat King «fair and square». Once again however, King won. Marduk conceded defeat and King offered his hand in friendship, reconciling differences between the two. King and Marduk later went on to become NWN Tag Team Champions.

Tekken 6

King heard of the attack on Marduk, and was furious to learn that the assailant looked exactly like his deceased master, Armor King. King was unsuccessful in his attempt to learn the true identity of Craig’s attacker when he received an invitation from Marduk to join him in The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, in the hopes that the culprit would appear again. When King was in his room looking at a picture of his deceased master, he accidentally dropped and broke the glass frame and noticed another photo behind his master’s; the hidden photo that showed two Armor Kings.

King arrived at Armor King’s grave to find Marduk, and the mysterious new Armor King, asking the assailant who exactly he was. The mysterious person then says that he is the brother of Armor King, thus making himself Armor King II.

Gameplay[]

Because of Steve’s fighting style, he is known to be difficult when executing long ‘juggling’ combos.

Bio[]

In a flash, Cole became a man with the power to wield electricity.
Able to fire electric-based attacks from his hands, this hero is shrouded in a tempest of electricity, and can mow down anyone who opposes him.

Appearance

Cole wears a simple black and yellow t-shirt, paired with black cargo pants that has a white Union Jack design on its right leg, this time spanning his entire leg. Cole has a simple brown/orange backpack where his melee weapon (the Amp) is being kept on a strap attached to his bag. Cole also has tattoos on his arms, that change corresponding to his Karmic state. Cole also has a scar on the right side of his face some time after dealing with Kessler, and wears sports shoes (‘tabi boots’) specifically for parkour.

Personality

Cole is a confident young man who takes on most challenges without a second thought. He is sarcastic, laid back yet adventures, quick tempered, rebellious and fearless. Many of his choices are dependent on the player in the inFAMOUS games, but in the canon story line, he is a heroic defender who helps out when he can, and is very selfless. He’s rough around the edges, but a loyal comrade.

Trivia

  • Jin, along with Marduk and Guile, is the only character to say profanity in the game. His victory quote against Asuka is «I don’t have time to listen to your bullsh*t».
  • Jin’s behavior and personality is a stark contrast to his normal game counterpart as seen in his pre-fights and win quotes with Xiaoyu over the course of the game. His behavior however is similar to Sasuke Uchiha from the Naruto anime series. This behavior however is also present in his appearance from another crossover game, Project X Zone.
  • His default fighting stance was his Tekken 5 CG pose and after executing most of his moves, he will be seen in his original fighting stance to his normal game counterpart before switching back to his default stance.
  • He and Kazuya’s karate belts are longer from the knee. In their normal game counterparts, their belts are below the knee.
  • In most trailers, Jin is seen in his CEO outfit (minus the trenchcoat) fighting against M. Bison. Later on, he makes an unlikely alliance with his father Kazuya against him.
  • He is the first character to have projectiles in the game the others are Steve, his bodyguard, Nina and later his android, Alisa.
  • When teaming up with Ryu after beating the first stage. Ryu was impressed to his sharp moves as Jin states that he wants to serve him in the Zaibatsu to join him as seen in their victory quotes.
    • Interestingly, some of Jin’s basic attacks are based on Ryu’s basic attacks and his «Shun Masatsu» move is also based on Ryu’s unique attack but slow to execute. His blocking pose also resembles Ryu’s when he blocks the opponents’ moves.
    • When Jin teams up with fellow Tekken characters or from Street Fighter characters, his pre-battle pose resembles Ryu’s pre-battle pose during their pre-fight with his tag partner Ken Masters.
    • He also shares similarities and often compared to Ryu due to their roles as the main protagonists with their respective games and being suffered from their evil beings such as his Devil Gene (In Ryu’s case, The Satsui no Hado). He later changes his role as an «anti-hero» in Tekken 6 and onwards making him as the complete opposite to Ryu.
    • During the mid-boss fight when playing as Ryu and Ken against Jin and Xiaoyu in their Pandora’s state. Both Ryu and Jin shoot their projectiles as both were equally hit from Ryu’s «Hadoken» and Jin’s «Penetrating Fist» respectively from their first attack.
  • Some of Jin’s moves has minor changes to his arsenal as his «Median Line Destruction» is based on the movie «Tekken: Blood Vengeance» where he pummels his grandfather, Heihachi before knocking him outside the castle. His «Over the Shoulder Reverse» and «Tidal Wave» throws became fast to execute rather slow his «Right-Roundhouse Punch however becomes a strong version of his «Demon’s Paw» rather his uppercut and his «Spinning Flare Kick and L.L.R.K to Spinning Flare Kick» is based on his appearance in «Devil Within» as he stands up after execution rather than lying down.
  • Jin’s «Penetrating Fist» appears to be very tricky against his opponents as seen when his opponents are getting close or behind from his projectile and gets hit from it. This makes it as his strategic move against them.
  • His cross-art was «Avenger» his unblockable move where he punches his opponent first using Thrusting Uppercut and several punches in reversal and pass to his partner by knocking him/her down with one powerful punch.
  • Both Ibuki and Poison are attracted to him in their victory quotes when he was against them. Jin’s victory quote however against Poison was to show his rudeness towards her despite her gender is a transexual as he says «Didn’t you think you would be shown no mercy because you’re a woman? You don’t know me very well, do you?».

Gameplay

«Now I’m getting the hang of things!«
—Ryu

Ryu’s primary moveset is the Hadoken; overcharging the Hadoken sets the opponents on fire. His Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku allows him to dodge projectiles at the start of the spin, but is comparatively weaker than that of Ken’s, as Ryu can only hit an opponent once using the move. However, using the EX Combo move allows Ryu to execute a stationary but powerful Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku, hitting the opponent five times; the same principle also applies to his Shoryuken move. Although Ryu and Ken share the same moveset, the kick moves and Shoryuken executed by Ryu are comparatively weaker to Ken’s, although Ryu’s Hadoken is more powerful than that of Ken’s.

Stage Cameos

In The Pitstop 109 stage, one of the bikers’ jacket appears similar to that of Chuck Greene from the Dead Rising series.

Bio

A wandering street fighter who trains rigorously in order to become a true martial artist. Studied the art of Ansatsuken from his master Gouken, but does not wield it to take lives. He wishes to test his mettle against fighters around the world in order to find an answer in the heart of battle. He searches for Pandora to see if there is a connection between it and the Satsui no Hado.

Appearance

Ryu is portrayed as a Japanese man whose basic and most recognizable attire consists of medium-length brown hair, brown eyes, a long, red headband, a white karate gi with the sleeves ripped off at the shoulders, completely bare feet, and a black belt. Ryu’s first appearance in the original Street Fighter replaced the red headband with a white one and depicted him with bright red hair, gray eyes, and red slippers. In the Street Fighter Alpha series, Ryu’s hair became a lighter shade of brown, and he retained the white headband. Ryu received his trademark red headband from his best friend Ken after a sparring session.

Personality

Ryu is usually a silent, humble, serious individual whose severity is often juxtaposed against the light-hearted, fiery persona of his best friend, Ken. He travels the globe with a stern nature, often appearing to others as boring or detached. On rare occasion, Ryu shows a very bad sense of humor. Ryu’s overarching goal in Street Fighter is to become a total master of his fighting style. To this end, Ryu plays the part of the wandering warrior, and takes both his travels and his training very seriously. Although he appears to be aloof and unemotional, Ryu is actually a kind and good-hearted person. However, by the time of Street Fighter III, it seems that Ryu has developed a somewhat more friendly personality. He is still very quiet and reserved, but is willing to greet people with a smile and some kind advice, very much like his master Gouken.

There is, however, a dark side to Ryu. His drive to improve himself, no matter the difficulty, can sometimes develop into a drive to win and to be the best, no matter what the cost, as these two goals are so dangerously similar. This darker drive is fed by, and in turn feeds the Satsui no Hadou within him, an influence which Ryu must constantly fight to suppress (at least until the time of Street Fighter III). Ryu’s desire to be better can sometimes make his advice to his defeated opponents seem more arrogant and judgmental than Gouken’s, though he is fundamentally well-intentioned. In times when his inner darkness threatens to overcome him, Ryu relies on his friends — primarily Ken, Chun-Li, and Sakura — to keep him grounded and snap him out of it.

Release[]

Capcom senior VP Christian Svensson stated that there would be no North American retail release for the PC version and that it would instead be sold digitally through Steam. However, Asia and Europe would receive a retail box release of the PC version. Ono stated that the reason is because he does not want an on-disc DLC for the PC version, out of fear that hackers may create mods to crack the game and access the DLC.

Special Edition

The Special Edition features a «build-it-yourself arcade cabinet bank» (approximately five inches high), prequel comic book by UDON and 36 gems, which includes all pre-order DLC packs («World Warrior», «Iron Curtain» and «Lightning Legs») plus an exclusive Special Edition DLC pack («King of Iron Fist»). The Special Edition also comes with nine exclusive gems («Cross Arts» DLC) only available as a pre-order bonus for the edition, making it total of 45 gems if the edition is pre-ordered. The Collectors Edition features the «World Warrior» DLC, which includes nine gems, all of which provide characters with different attributes and properties. Also included is a 46 track original soundtrack spanning two discs and a 44-page art book.

In the Asian market the special edition includes DLC for a complete pack of gems, a two-disc soundtrack, 41 character cards with art on one side and move details on the other, and Bobble Budds bobble heads modeled after Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono and Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada. The three big game retailers in Australia, EB Games, JB Hi-Fi and Game shared three pre-order bonuses. EB Games offers the exclusive Special Edition, JB Hi-Fi offered the standard edition, along with a 60 cm × 90 cm wall scroll featuring Ryu and Kazuya Mishima, while Game offered the standard edition bundled with a Kazuya and Ken T-shirt.
