The Peashooter’s primary weapon is called the Pea Cannon. It deals 25 — 35 damage depending on range, with a rate of fire of 100 RPM. The weapon also deals splash damage, dealing 10 damage in a 2.5 meter radius.
Early Sasquatch Hunt
The Sasquatch boss encountered in Boss Hunt was originally intended to appear in the story mode Boss Hunts. In older versions of the game, his hunt was playable on other maps, although quite unfinished. His original bait was a Soup Can, which has a model and icon. There is also text present for the unfinished hunt. When played in earlier versions, the Sasquatch will spawn, but players will be sent into a loop of his Healing Burgers phase after damaging him due to it being unfinished.

Plants
Peashooter
- The Chili Bean Bomb had a sombrero that looks exactly like the Sombrero Bean Bomb. The bean also had a much more higher pitched voice and took longer to explode.
- Hyper’s icon showed a Repeater at full speed. The Repeater’s look is from Plants vs. Zombies 2.
Chomper
- His zombie-eating length was shortened.
- Spawnable zombies actually attacked the Chomper as opposed to avoiding him.
- Goop’s icon was the same color as the projectile.
- Burrow had Chomper’s «fin» sticking out, making him look like a shark. Also when his «eating» animation was there, the «Dig Power» would continue to stay until he actually ate a zombie.
- He had 200 health.
Sunflower
- She had an unused ability where she would drop sunlight from her back. These sundrops would have healed Sunflower and other plants.
- Heal Beam looked noticeably much larger.
- Sunbeam was originally called «Void Ray» and Sunflower would have had a red glow on herself when using it.
- Heal Flower originally looked like Marigold, and would have had 2 uses, meaning you could plant 2 Heal Flowers.
Cactus
- She originally had 100 health.
- At one point, her weapon was originally called «Semi-Auto Needle» and had 60 ammo.
- Potato Mine would have had 10 uses.
- Garlic Drone originally had text saying «Garlic Drone Ready!» when used, and «Corn Strike Ready» when deploying airstrikes, and had a different weapon name called the «Spike Needle». Corn Strike had more corns in earlier gameplay.
Strategies
General
In general, the Foot Soldier is a class that is very easy to play, yet somewhat difficult to master. He has three very useful abilities — a way to provide cover to his fellow zombies as well as deny areas to the plants (Zombie Stink Cloud), a way to get to elevated positions and attack enemies from above (Rocket Jump), and a hard-hitting removal ability (ZPG). All of these abilities make Foot Soldier a great team player, and possibly even a game changer when used well.
The Foot Soldier also makes for a good pseudo — sniper, as the Z-1 Assault Blaster has an accurate crosshair. He also deals good damage at long range. Furthermore, his ZPG can instantly take out an unaware plant, and his Zombie Stink Cloud, when aiming up and jumping, goes a decent distance so it can be used to cover objectives when the Soldier is far away. He can also use it to flank himself since the Stink Cloud obscures vision. However, what makes him a capable sniper is his Rocket Jump. It gives the Soldier the highest boost in height, surpassing the Peashooter’s Hyper. This makes it common for Soldiers to appear on rooftops, so plants should always keep one eye on the sky, or else they will be vanquished quickly.
However, the Foot Soldier has a few flaws to go with his numerous advantages. His primary weapon is somewhat inaccurate up close, and that multiple plants can quickly overwhelm him. His Rocket Jump only gives one height boost, so if the player accidentally slides down, it will be 20 seconds before they can jump back up again. The ZPG, while very powerful, has a lot of startup time, making it not the best choice in close quarters. His Zombie Stink Cloud, while flanking his position, also covers his and his teammates’ vision.
Chompers can also be quite problematic as his Goop and Spikeweeds can render the Foot Soldier’s abilities unaccessible, preventing the Foot Soldier from using Rocket Jump to escape or ZPG to take the Chomper out. Also, when the Foot Soldier is indeed stunned, the Chomper can take advantage of the situation and score an easy vanquish.
Nonetheless, the Foot Soldier’s pros outshine his cons, and he is considered a very good character by a lot of players.
With
The Foot Soldier has a devastating instant kill explosive, the ZPG. This weapon is best used for dispatching of rooted plants, such as Sunflowers or Peashooters using their Sunbeam, Pea Gatling, or even Cacti using their drones. The Zombie Stink Cloud is best used for covering major objectives, making it harder for plants to defend them, as well as escaping a tight situation. Use Rocket Jump to gain vantage points by supporting your teammates while also making yourself a small target. The best use for the Foot Soldier is to provide support by vanquishing rooted plants from afar. In Gardens & Graveyards and Taco Bandits, the Foot Soldier should sometimes use its stink cloud on annoying Spawnable Plants at a distance (such as the Bamboo Shoot and the Scaredy-shroom) as it temporarily disables the Spawnable Plants allowing the zombie team to pass. Be sure to also keep on the lookout for Cactus drones to shoot them down in order to prevent any lethal Corn Strikes from being performed against your team.
Against
The main counters for the Foot Soldier are the Peashooters and Cacti. Peashooters can use Hyper to quickly get to vantage points before the Foot Soldier and has enough offensive potential to hold its own in a one-on-one fight against the Foot Soldier. Cactus can snipe the Foot Soldier at long range, as well as setting up cover against him and attack him with drones or even drop Potato Mines where the Foot Soldier will land when he uses his Rocket Jump.

Trivia
- There is a glitch similar to the glitch from the Centurion, where when you are vanquished by the Blazin’ Blast, the «Vanquished by» area says «Flame Spray» instead of «Blazin’ Blast.» Flame Spray is the primary weapon of the Fire Chomper.
- This may be because the developers might have used the original coding for the Fire Chomper’s Flame Spray to make the Blazin’ Blast.
- This glitch can happen if the player attacks a zombie with Torchwood’s primary weapon after damaging them with Blazin’ Blast.
- This is the only plant class to have abilities that deal fire damage.
- He looks very similar to (and is likely inspired by) Giga Torchwood.
- In the cutscene that plays after being evacuated from the landing zone, Torchwood’s arm can be seen visibly clipping through Crazy Dave’s RV.
- He and Hover Goat-3000 cannot be spawned as AI in Solo Ops
Although this can be solved by, spawning another character, then switch, afterwards respawn as him, then switch back.
.
- He explodes and disintegrates when he is KO’d, like Rose.
- This also means that Torchwood, like Rose, is never seen in his ragdoll form.
- In the same fashion as Rose becoming a small rose, he becomes a mini stump when he is KO’d.
- Even though he is always on fire, he does not actually deal fire damage unless he is using one of his abilities.
- When revived, the fire on his head is mysteriously gone. It will return while Smoldering Madness is in use, but will disappear again after it’s done.
- When compared to Giga Torchwood, Torchwood is half his size.
- It was confirmed in a tweet by Creative Director Justin Wiebe that there will not be any variants, customizations or gestures for Torchwood, along with Hover Goat-3000, due to them being bonus classes.
- However, this is proven false due to the December 2018 Update adding 3 customizations for Torchwood: Tree-X-1000, Sugar Plum Fury and Gingerbark House.
- Datamining has also found an ability for the Torchwood similar to that of the All-Star’s Sprint Tackle called Sprint Smash Weapon.
- The Stickerbook description references «Purgatory.» In Catholic Doctrine this means a place or state of suffering inhabited by the souls of sinners who are expiating their sins before going to heaven.
- His crosshair most likely resembles the top of a tree stump.
- From December 6th 2018 onward, both Torchwood and the Hover Goat-3000 can be purchased in the Torch and Tail DLC Pack.
- Its ability Leaf Shield resembles and shares a name with the Leaf Shield ability from Mega Man 2.

Dr. Zomboss NPC
At a point in the game’s development, Dr. Zomboss was going to have his own proper NPC but was cut for unknown reasons. The NPC would have likely been used in the Top Zombie Story Quests. In older versions of the game, it was possible to still interact with an NPC called «Branching Zomboss» by glitching your character into an area of the Backyard Battleground above the sewers but below the actual ground, and jumping in a specific spot in that area. Attempting to interact with Branching Zomboss would give the dialogue «I got no Quests!» After responding with the only available option, being «What?», the dialogue «Come Back Later…» would be given, with both the response options of «YES» and «NO» ending the dialogue. The remnants of the NPC that could still be interacted with were later completely removed in an unknown update.

Trivia
General
- He bears a striking resemblance to the Lightning Gun Zombie from Sky City in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2
He also bears some resemblances to the Rocket Zombie in Plants vs. Zombies Adventures.
.
- Scientist creates his own technology, that Dr. Zomboss
This effectively means that the Scientist’s primary weapon, as well as all his ability items, are made by the Scientist himself.
patents.
- The Scientist is one of the three zombies which starts with their Y/2/Triangle button ability, the other being the Foot Soldier and the All-Star.
- In Garden Ops, he has a special wave called For Science where he and all of his variants (except for Dr. Chester) appear.
- When the player is standing on top of a Heal Station, burrowing Chompers cannot always eat them and sometimes, they can. It is unknown whether or not this is a glitch or just game mechanics. This works better with the Armored Heal Station due to it being larger than the default.
- When a Scientist character obtains a damage upgrade, the weapon model will change to appear more advanced.
Specific to Garden Warfare
- He has the most abilities out of all characters with a total of nine abilities.
- The Scientist’s Goo Blaster used to deal up to 83 critical damage at close range, but was changed in the Tactical Taco Party DLC.
- The changes made in the DLC are to ensure it never exceeds 73 critical damage due to the weapon «being stronger than intended.»
The Scientist’s long range non-critical damage was also reduced from 33 to 22.
- The changes made in the DLC are to ensure it never exceeds 73 critical damage due to the weapon «being stronger than intended.»
Specific to Garden Warfare 2
- He can now also heal zombie bosses (Gargantuar, Giga Gargantuar, Mech Gargantuar, Disco Zombie, Yeti Zombie). However, since the player cannot see their HP on display, like with the other zombies, the player use the Heal Beam of Science, and the boss will have +2 HP constantly healing it. The player would know once the boss is fully healed if there is no more +2 HP healing.
- This same concept also applies to the Sunflower.
- If the Scientist heals a Mech Gargantuar, the player will only heal him by 1 HP instead of 2.
- He can now revive all zombies at 100% of HP from 50% of health.
- His irises are a lot bigger. This is because of the goggles he wears producing a magnifying effect, making his eyes look bigger than normal.
- He is one of the two classes in Garden Warfare to have a Legendary variant in the sequel, the other being the Chomper.
- All Scientist variants (excluding Dr. Chester
When equipping a Scientist variant’s weapon skin, then exiting the Customization Booth, it will say the same primary weapon name and the shooting particles of it, despite the weapon skin name.
) have special weapon skin names that are considered different Scientist blaster names («Crocophin Blaster» is an examples), as some are Rare appearances and some are Super Rare appearances.
Primary weapon
The primary weapon of the Rose is Magic Thistles. It is a fully automatic weapon that fires slow-moving projectiles that home in on targets, meaning the weapon does not require much aiming. The way the homing works is, as long as you have your crosshair on the target, your projectiles will home successfully. You can tell whether your shots will home or not by seeing whether the crosshair is red or white. If it is red, your shots will home. These projectiles don’t usually miss but can be obstructed by solid objects. It does 9 damage at all ranges and 10 if the damage upgrade is equipped. This weapon can be fired 20 times before it needs to be reloaded.
Gameplay
Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a free-to-play game, unlike its predecessor, supporting in-app purchasing of coins in order to utilize certain power up abilities: Plant Food, a new power-up, allows plants to power up for varying amounts of time. Each plant has its own ability when given Plant Food. Players can complete the whole game without purchasing these abilities, some of which can be earned throughout the game instead of being purchased. Additionally, users can level up their plants using Seed Packets (found in-game or bought with real money) to allow them to permanently enhance their abilities.
Players can start an optional tutorial which takes place in front of the player’s house. Afterward, the player travels to Ancient Egypt and can win in-game World Keys by completing Day 6 to unlock a series of additional period settings («worlds»); this required a certain number of stars in earlier updates. As players go through levels, they unlock new plants each with advantages and unique boosts.
