Strategy
In his first phase, Ludwig is weak to Bolt, Fire, and Arcane. In his second phase, his Arcane defense doubles (from 12% to 25%).
Alternatively, for players with passive playstyle, they can acquire the Simon’s Bowblade early, then summon an NPC Hunter to tank and safely deal with Ludwig from a distance. This tactic works well for both phases.
First Phase (Accursed)
Much like The One Reborn, Ludwig has limbs in a variety of locations, making it difficult to attack him. These flailing atrocities cause blunt damage when struck by them. A set of legs on his rear can kick behind him, while other arms scattered throughout will swipe when given the chance. His front-end is host to his two primary arms, which will perform wide, heavily damaging sweeps. His left side has only a single frail appendage. Keeping distance will cause Ludwig to occasionally spit a damaging fluid.
When he screams and grips to the ceiling, sprint in the direction of the farthest wall. Ludwig should land just behind you if you don’t slow down.
Second Phase (Holy Blade)
A second phase begins when he loses 50% of his health. In this phase, he will use far-reaching sword strikes and launch arcane attacks, ranging from relatively small AoE’s to ranged waves of moonlight. One of note is a particular attack where Ludwig raises the Sword high over his head, charging it with arcane energy, before slamming onto the ground, releasing a massive blast that blankets the entire area in front of him. As this attack can potentially one-shot, either attempt to stagger him during the charge-up sequence or run to the other side of the boss arena.
Weapon Types
There are two types of weapons: Right Hand Weapons and Left Hand Weapons:
- Right Hand Weapons are also known as Trick Weapons, and able to transform instantly (often employed in beast hunting), giving the player another set of attacks. When transformed, some might require both hands to be used, while some may not. When a weapon is two-handed, players will lack access to their Left Hand Weapons, but gain a special L2 attack in its place. All Trick weapons are able to transform in the middle of combat to provide a greater variety of attacks.
- Left Hand Weapons mainly consist of Firearms, and are used primarily to stagger opponents (versus being used for damage output), staggering allows for special critical attacks, known as a Visceral Attack. There are, however, other types of gear for the left hand, like Torches, Shields, and some other unique gear.

Lore
Ludwig was the first of many Healing Church hunters to come, many of whom were clerics. As it was, clerics transformed into the most hideous beasts.
Ludwig was a hunter affiliated with the Healing Church. Under Ludwig’s leadership, the Healing Church gained its own core of hunters, led by Ludwig himself under the patronage of the Healing Church. Ludwig trained his hunters to be honorable Spartans, and even trained ordinary Yharnamites as hunters, effectively uniting the populace and using it to combat the scourge.
Ludwig wielded a mystical greatsword that he himself discovered, allowing him to channel the abyssal cosmos. Ludwig looked to the sword and the tiny beings of light that surrounded it, for guidance, allowing Ludwig to empty his fears, even in the middle of a hunt.
Despite seemingly being respected, Ludwig had his detractors, who appear to have disagreed with his methods and did not appreciate his hunters. These detractors dismissed Ludwig as a beast-possessed degenerate, and Ludwig suffered much denigration at their hands.
At some point, Ludwig succumbed to the bloodlust and mutated into a horrifying beast, a terrible cross between horse, wolf and man. He was trapped in Hunter’s Nightmare, and completely lost himself to the blood. He resided in the Underground Corpse Pile where, by killing countless beasts and hunters in his blind rage, created the blood river which flows through the Nightmare.
Lore
- Note: Chalice Dungeons are often referred to as an ‘old labyrinth’ in-game, including Chalice descriptions.
Chalice Dungeons are subsections of an old labyrinth carved out by Pthumerians and known as a tomb of the gods. This title refers to Great Ones, beings that might be described as gods. Pthumerians were superhuman beings, just taking a humanoid form, said to have accessed eldritch Truth of the Great Ones. Early Pthumerians were simple guardians of the Great Ones; it was their descendants who proclaimed a capital and a leader, both known as Pthumeru Ihyll. Oldest of these keepers, still encountered within the Chalice Dungeons, gained an eternal life, yet as an ashen form being a result of a ceremony of flame, cremating both body and soul. City of Yharnam takes its name from Pthumeru’s last ruler, Queen Yharnam, residing at the deepest dungeon of Pthumeru Ihyll.
Holy Chalices themselves became objects of worship. They can be used to enter Chalice Dungeon by performing the Holy Chalice ritual, based on satiating a chalice with proper materials, the most basic one being a noncoagulable blood. A few were ever brought to the surface. Pthumeru Chalice became a relic in the Old Yharnam in the Church of the Good Chalice. Traces of the Old Ones can be still found in old labyrinth, including their blood and pearl slug-like creatures.
Dungeons laying beneath Yharnam were first explored by tomb prospectors, delegates of the Healing Church. It was then known that a knowledge of the Great Ones lies somewhere within the old labyrinth. Exploration began after an initial encounter with a phantasm, augur of the Great Ones able to partially summon abandoned Ebrietas. Phantasms were discovered through Byrgenwerth’s contact with the arcane, but in the end revealed nothing and failed to make contact with the outer reaches of the cosmos. It led to the establishment of the Choir and inquiry into the cosmos starting from within the old labyrinth. However, most tomb prospectors were unable to maintain a sanity when confronted with the old knowledge, as it cannot be understood by a simple mind and usually drives one mad.
Eventually, the Choir was able to have audience with Ebrietas herself after discovering a Great Isz Chalice. It’s known that it was the first Great Chalice brought back to the surface since the time of Byrgenwerth, suggesting some other Great Chalice had already been found. However, this chalice couldn’t be thought of as the Choir’s own discovery, as its members are continuing the work that began at Byrgenwerth outside it. Only other known Great Chalice is the one providing access to Pthumeru Ihyll. Land of Isz was, according to the Choir, in contact with the cosmos, allowing the Great Ones to function on transcendental planes of thought. Hence, obtaining the Great Isz Chalice was a cornerstone for members of the Choir.
Within an old labyrinth remain proof of Yharnam not being first to be struck with scourge of the beast. Part of the Chalice Dungeons shows what remained of Loran, land devoured by sands after being infected by the scourge. However, just as it was in Yharnam, it is not clear if medical procedures said to be intended to control the scourge weren’t the cause of the outbreak. At the time, some have made terrifying extrapolation that Yharnam will be next. Loran must have been lost after, or not so far before, establishment of the Healing Church, as its infamous eccentric Archibald dedicated his life to research on sparks emitted on the hides of the darkbeasts, which were only inhabiting Loran (with the exception of Darkbeast Paarl).

Во второй и третьей фазе к этим ударам прибавляется удар предплечьем, но не поперек, а по прямой.
Серия из четырех ударов, описанных выше — в время этой серии кровопуск двигается вперед с каждым ударов, преодолевая заметное расстояние.
Разгон — пожалуй, самый мощный удар, который может убить охотника даже с полной полоской жизни. Уклонение от этой атаки требует знания тайминга.

Ярость — серия размашистых, ненацеленных ударов в разных направлениях. Удар левой ладонью на среднюю дистанцию перед собой — удар правой лапой перед собой с заносом лапы сбоку — удар ребром ладонью правой лапой с движением назад — удар правой ладонью в пол перед собой. Мощная серия, поэтому лучше в этот момент охотнику находиться вдалеке от кровопуска. Могут также добавляться выпады червя — один или два.
Червивая форма
Обстрел ядовитыми личинками — кровопуск встает на четыре лапы, а затем открывается щель огромного нарыва, и оттуда с высокой скоростью вылетают мелкие личинки, при попадании в охотника которые заполняют шкалу быстрого отравления. Огромный нарыв образован паразитическим червем. Возможно, червь так создает гнездо для личинок.

Два молниеносных выпада червя — прямая, но очень резкая атака на приличное расстояние.

Expansion
An expansion called The Old Hunters has been confirmed to be available for download worldwide on 24th November 2015, with a hard version being sold a week later.
The expansion focuses on many of the old hunters being trapped in a nightmare world who are no longer sustained by the Hunter’s Dream, but are becoming more dependent on blood and the hunt. There are few story elements that have been released to date, but it has been confirmed that there will be up to 15 new weapons, new outfits, three new areas and new bosses. The first Church Hunter Ludwig has been confirmed to be making an appearance.
Director Miyazaki has commented saying that although the Bloodborne community is sharp, there are a few things regarding lore that they have yet to uncover, and that the expansion will develop some of these points.

Questline
Players can at any given point kill Eileen, but will only receive the Crow Hunter Badge. This will fail her questline, and players will receive nothing else. This means players will lose out on a special attire, two gestures, and a special Oath Memory Caryll Rune.
Eileen’s questline cannot be started if she is not spoken to in Central Yharnam or, failing that, Cathedral Ward at the latest. If one fails to activate her questline, she will attack the player in the Grand Cathedral instead of the original final target.

Central Yharnam — First Encounter
- Eileen can be found in a hidden area above the sewers, after breaking a bunch of boxes/crates in the big warehouse building. Four Bold Hunter’s Marks and «Shake Off Cape» gesture be acquired from her when speaking to her the first time.
- It is possible to kill Eileen and get the Crow Hunter Badge early; the battle is very difficult, and because the Crow Hunter Badge is meant to be obtained later, the Hunter cannot buy items earned from the badge, such as the Blade of Mercy. However, if the Hunter is trying to obtain the Hunter Chief Emblem, the Hunter can kill Eileen for a large amount of Echoes.

Cathedral Ward — Warning
- She will be found to the left after going through the door straight ahead from the Oedon Chapel lamp. She will only appear in this location after the player has unlocked the two gates at the foot of the Grand Cathedral stairs.
- If the player missed her in Central Yharnam, she’ll still show up here. Talking to her will still gain the «Shake off Cape» gesture (but not the Bold Hunter’s Marks). The quest can be progressed as normal after reloading the area.
- You don’t have to talk to her here if you encountered her in Central Yharnam, but you do have to kill Henryk before entering Forbidden Woods.

Tomb of Oedon — Fighting Henryk
- The Tomb of Oedon lamp will be unavailable for use while she is here, therefore players must either go from the Central Yharnam, or the Cathedral Ward lamps. However, coming from the latter lamp is advised as it potentially means catching Henryk off-guard and sneaking in a few attacks or a visceral attack, before the fight begins.
- Players will find Henryk near the lamp, and he will rush as soon as they are within his visual range, Eileen will join shortly after 30 seconds.
- It is possible for her to die during this encounter, either by Henryk’s hand or by the player accidentally aggroing her.

Grand Cathedral — Final Fight
- If players missed her in Oedon Chapel — She will be found inside the cathedral near the lamp, hostile and attempting to kill the player. From her dialogue it would seem that she went mad and loses her faith in hunters. This encounter only happens when the player misses either her second or third encounter.
- If her quest was completed correctly thus far — Eileen will be found wounded at the top of the stairs outside the cathedral. Note that the Grand Cathedral lamp will be unavailable for use while she is here. The hunter who wounded her, the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, can be encountered inside the cathedral. After defeating him, Eileen will award the Crow Hunter Badge and the Hunter rune. Afterwards, Eileen will no longer be at the stairs and will not appear for the rest of the game.
Access to the Endings
There are 3 different endings in Bloodborne which become accessible after defeating Mergo’s Wet Nurse and they occur within the Hunter’s Dream.
This is noticeable thanks to the burning of the workshop and new dialogue of The Doll, who says:
«Good hunter, you have come… Dawn will soon break… This night, and this dream, will end. Gehrman awaits you, at the foot of the great tree. Go on, good hunter…»
From this moment the player can either keep exploring Yharnam or access the graveyard zone of the Dream where Gehrman awaits the Hunter to inform him/her the contract made at the beginning of the game is done and he/she can die in the dream to finish the hunt.
The Hunter can accept or refuse this offer, resulting in one ending or another. If certain conditions have been met, a third ending will be triggered if a specific one of the two choices mentioned above was chosen.
After any of the three endings and the forthcoming credits, the game ends and the player will immediately start a NG+.

Чтобы полностью завершить игру, необходимо найти в каждой локации определенное количество трофеев. Некоторые из них даются за победу над боссом, другие спрятаны в различных местах.
Клиника Йозефка, Центральный Ярнам и Акведук
Согласно порядку прохождения локаций в Bloodborne — это самая первая часть освоения виртуального мира. Здесь игроку предстоит сразиться с несколькими местными боссами, после чего получить от Гилберта огнемет.
После этого предстоит найти еще пару собеседников (Эйлин и Альфред). Когда все они поговорят с героем, можно идти к могиле Одеона. Здесь открывается путь к следующей локации.

В новом месте игроку предстоит вступить в бой с боссом кровоглотом. После этого необходимо тщательно исследовать локацию. Здесь можно найти много интересных трофеев — например, Мастер Рун.
Теперь игроку надо подняться на самый верх Мастерской церкви исцеления. Это позволит получить ранее недоступное и очень полезное оружие. Теперь можно возвращаться назад. В открывшемся Соборном круге предстоит сражение с Викарием Амелией.

Молельный переулок Хемвик и Запретный лес
Тут необходимо победить босса и снять с него Чашу Птумера. Теперь нужно идти вниз по лестнице до Молельного переулка. Здесь игрока ждет Ведьма Хемвика.
После победы над ней получится пройти дальше к Запретному лесу. А вот уже там герою придется сражаться с Тенью Ярнама.
Важно! Победить босса очень важно, так как это позволит пройти в следующую локацию. Теперь можно возвращаться к Старым Ярнам и говорить с персонажем, который недавно атаковал героя

Бюргенверт и Яаар Гул, духовная деревня
Герой попадает в Бюргенверт. Здесь надо убить Рома, чтобы двигаться дальше. Игрока ждет духовая деревня, но сначала надо поговорить с Эйлин и сразить еще одного босса.
После победы надо идти к лифту и убить следующего противника. Теперь открыт путь в Яаар Гул.

Лекционный корпус и Кошмар Менсиса
Гайд по прохождению Bloodborne говорит, что в этом месте герою надо пройти с боем через деревню и очутиться около очередного босса. Возродившийся будет сложным соперником, но победа над ним необходима для перехода в лекционный корпус. Здесь игроку необходимо найти нижний уровень, через который он попадет в кошмар Менсиса. Тут нужно сразиться с Амигдайлом.
Важно! После победы будет открыт доступ ко всем подземельям. Тут же предстоит уничтожить еще несколько опасных врагов

Лунарий Кормилицы Мерго
Сначала рекомендуется игроку вернуться в Мечту Охотника и тщательно подготовиться к следующей локации. После этого можно двигаться в Покинутый замок и сразиться с Мучеником Логариусом. Затем надо одеть корону на трон. Этим действием герой откроет дверь к Ковенанту.
Далее предстоит долгая беседа с королевой. Необходимо согласиться на ее предложение. Герой получит новое оружие. Кроме того, откроются все локации с трофеями.

After Bloodborne had received heavy criticism at launch for severe loading times, From Software announced that it was working on a patch to improve the issue. A patch addressing various issues was published on April 1, 2015, though not the issue of loading times.
