Limitations

Some features are not 100% accurate, i.e., locations can be wrong or missing. These include:

• Dungeons
• End Cities on Bedrock Edition
• World Spawn Positions

Various other structures such as villages and igloos can sometimes fail to generate in-game as well.

Let me know in the comments if you find any wrong or missing locations. Please make sure that:

• you entered the seed and coordinates correctly
• you selected the correct edition and version (the one used to generate the region you look at)
• you don’t use any mods that affect the world generation
• (for slime chunks) you waited long enough, since they have a very low spawn rate even in slime chunks

• •  map: The map number.
  •  map_scale_direction: Only internally used when scaling a map, after that directly removed: The amount to increase the current map scale by when crafting. Always 1.
  •  map_to_lock: 1 or 0 (true/false) — true if the map should be locked after being taken out of the cartography table. Only internally used when locking a map, after that directly removed.
  •  Decorations: A list of optional icons to display on the map. Decorations that are removed or modified do not update until the world is reloaded.
    • An individual decoration.
      •  id: An arbitrary unique string identifying the decoration.

It should be noted that even if the player used a NBT editor to add an additional icon on the map, Minecraft shows only the first one listed when the player loads up their world.

Usage

Seed Selection

The first thing you should do is select a seed and version. You can either type it in manually, or you can load it from your savegame. The latter can be done by clicking on «Load from Save…» and selecting your level.dat, or by drag&dropping the level.dat file into your browser window. Level.dat is a small file located in the folder of every Minecraft savegame. You can find the savegames in the saves folder of your Minecraft installation. On Windows you can use %appdata%\.minecraft\saves to get to that folder.

You should also know that a seed is always a number (up to around 20 digits). If you type in anything else (like letters), it will be converted to a number. The app does this the same way Minecraft does, so it’s safe to use letters (and other characters) as well.

Dimension and Feature Selection

Below the seed and version, you can also choose the Minecraft dimension that you want to view (Overworld, Nether or End). This, and the version you use, will affect which features can be enabled. To toggle certain features, click on the icons in the features box just above the map.

You can also expand and collapse features box by clicking the arrow on the right side of the box to show the full names of the features, as well as some more options.

Note that some features will only show if you zoomed in enough. This is to keep the app fast and to not flood it with icons. The app will show a warning and all affected features will be highlighted once that happens.

Navigation

Once you entered all the options you can start using the map. To scroll, use your arrow keys while your mouse cursor points at the map, or move your mouse while holding down the left mouse button. You can use the slider below the map or your mousewheel for zooming. The lower inputs allow you to go to a specific point (e.g., your base) of the map and set a marker there. You can always remove and add the marker by double clicking on the map. The «Save Map» button allows you to save the currently shown map as png image file.

Selecting structure locations

You can click or tap on the icons on the map to see their exact coordinates in the game. For some structures, additional details are shown as well.

Touchscreen

When using a touch-enabled device, an extra option for enabling/disabling touchscreen control will appear below the map. With that option enabled, you can drag the map with your finger to navigate, you can pinch to zoom in and out, and you can tap and hold to set a marker on the map. By double tapping on the map, you can quickly enable/disable the functionality as well.

Requirements

Seed

For technical reasons, you need to know the seed of your world to use Seed Map, unless, of course, you want to find a seed for a new world. If you’re playing SSP, the app is able to fetch the seed from your savegame. Alternatively, you can use the /seed command ingame. In SMP, you can use the same command if you have sufficient rights. Otherwise, however, you’re dependent on the server owner, who started the world and has access to the savegame and config files.

Browser

This app uses some relatively new web technologies. As a result, some features may be disabled for older browsers. I recommend using the latest version of a major browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.

Cartography Table

A map can also be created using a single paper on a cartography table to create an empty map, or a paper with a compass‌[Bedrock Edition only] for an empty locator map.

Starting map

This feature is exclusive to Bedrock Edition. 

When creating a new world in Bedrock Edition, the player can enable the «Starting Map» option to spawn with an empty locator map in the hotbar. If the world type is infinite or flat then zoom scale is 3⁄₄ (1:8), but if the world type is old then zoom scale is 1⁄₂ (1:4). The map is updated only while the player holds it.

In Java Edition, cartographer villagers may give players with the Hero of the Village effect an empty map.

Trivia[]

• Use of the F1 key can allow the player to hold a map without blocking their view at all.
• In Java Edition, a map created using can be any map by using the Map parameter to specify the map number desired. E.g. gives the specified player map_5. If no data value is supplied it defaults to map_0. If map_0 has not ever been crafted, it is centered on x=0, z=0.
• The maps are stored separately as their own data () file as with (x) being the map number, see map item format for more info. By manipulating this number, players can organize their maps to suit them, or if they accidentally create a map in the same location, they can delete their extra map so as to save the number they make.
• Certain programs can be used to make customized maps with images or text on them instead of actual maps, many people use these in adventure maps to show pictures or to tell a story.
• Since all copies of a map are links to the same file, copying an unfinished map keeps it synchronized with the copy as the player fills it in. Thus, a copy stored in a chest can act as a remote backup.
• A map that is in an item frame does not update itself until a player picks it up, lets it reload, and places it back again. However, if a player holds a clone of the map, both maps update.
• Filled maps are the only items that make 90 degree rotations in item frames, and also the only items that can expand the item frame into full block wide.
• On Legacy Console Edition, the player always spawns with a map in their inventory after creating a world. This was later added to Bedrock Edition as an optional feature in the world creation menu.
• Maps on Legacy Console Edition always show the player’s current coordinates, as a substitute for the optional coordinate display in other editions.
• A map cannot be created on New Nintendo 3DS Edition. Instead, the map is always displayed on the bottom screen along with the coordinates.

Minecraft dropper maps

Don’t look down! Well, actually, you might want to do just that when it comes to Minecraft dropper maps. Here you have to fall in such a way as to, as gracefully as possible, avoid the blocks in your way. If you navigate to the bottom of a dropper level with all of your character’s blocks in the places where they should be, congratulations, you have survived. Test your vertigo with these fun gravity-themed Minecraft maps.

The Dropper 2

Subtitled ‘Newton vs Darwin’, The Dropper 2 releases you from a vertigo-inducing height and asks you to survive. As you plummet down a complex spider web of blocks and barriers, you need to shift your body in the right direction to prevent splattering against an obstacle (i.e. mining away the block as you hit it is firmly disallowed). Think of those insane space debris sections from Dead Space and you are halfway there.

Multi Difficulty Droppers

Multi Difficulty Droppers is a Minecraft map that demands you git gud. That means before you progress to a different environment you need to beat each on every difficulty setting. Once you land successfully, however, you are congratulated by an explosion of fireworks and the disembodied cheers of children. Yay?

Anti Dropp3r

What do you get if you take the main mechanic of a dropper map and turn it, well, upside-down? An upper map? A levitator map? Ok, we are not the ideas people here, that honour goes to creators Addit95, Drosselbard, and ScribbleLP, who clearly levitated so much the e key fell off their keyboard.

Anti Dropp3r is the blasphemous dropper map that proves that the end result is pretty much the same regardless of whether you turn gravity on or off. On the plus side, there are multiple levitation speeds and you can play it in multiplayer.

Impossible Dropper 2

Think you are the bees knees at dropping? This Minecraft map is so devilishly difficult that, according to its title, it is impossible. Impossible Dropper 2 features plenty of dastardly trolls and some vanishingly small landing spots; even if you evade all the obstacles it is extremely tough to escape death right at the end. We have not completed it yet because we, er, have not got round to it. Yeah, that’s it.

Minecraft horror maps

How scary can animated blocks be? Phenomenally so, apparently. If you are looking to ruin some underwear then you need a chilling Minecraft horror map. So down the lights, affix your headphones, and prepare your nerves for a fright with angles you have never seen before.

Black Light

Channelling the frights of Outlast, Black Light is a chilling expedition to a Russian psychiatric hospital in the wake of a nuclear explosion. A specialised texture pack makes the place unnervingly filthy, complete with ominous graffiti and colour palette. Like the best Minecraft horror maps, it is the skilled use of lighting makes Black Light creepy.

The Asylum

Abandoned asylums are always a great place for spooks and thrills. Apart from performing a solid job of delivering blocky jump scares and plenty of chills, The Asylum’s borderline immortal mobs engender a sense of powerless terror. This is stripped-back Minecraft horror at its finest.

Survival Horror

Ah, the creepy mansion on the hill. How could such a horror trope not be the centre of a Minecraft map? Created by the ever-excellent Hypixel, Survival Horror asks you to survive 25 waves of increasingly tough ghouls and beasts using only the limited resources found lying around the mansion. A failing electric generator escalates the panic to deliver pure fright throughout.

Ruins of the Dead

Ancient underground temple? Check. Wave after wave of flesh-eating zombies? Check. Hidden chests of armour, weapons, and loot? Check.

Ruins of the Dead is an excellent zombie survival map thanks to its progressive loot game and increasing difficulty. There is even a deviously challenging final undead foe for anyone who can get through the 16 waves of increasingly challenging undead.

Wandering

Rife with jump-scares and haunting from the first few steps, Wandering is an unforgettable Minecraft map. You play as Jack, a 30-year-old man returning home after a tiring day at work… only someone – or something – has followed you …

Вариант 1: Maps.Me

Как скачать карты в Maps.Me:

1. Нажмите на кнопку в виде трех полосок, выберите опцию «Загрузить карты».
2. Тапните по клавише с плюсом, выберите страну или город из списка.
3. Для загрузки кликните по нужному атласу, нажмите на «Загрузить карту» в появившемся окне.

Время загрузки атласа зависит от его размера и скорости интернета. Заранее скачайте нужные регионы, чтобы не тратить интернет-трафик в роуминге.

Вариант 2: Яндекс.Навигатор

Навигация от Yandex может работать в онлайн-режиме и загружать нужную карту через интернет. При движении за городом возможны проблемы со связью. В этом случае пригодятся заранее скачанные атласы, которые можно загрузить бесплатно.

Как закачать карты в навигатор Яндекс:

1. Нажмите на кнопку вызова меню снизу справа, тапните по опции «Загрузка карт».
2. Тапните по окошку поиска, напечатайте название города или региона.
3. Для скачивания кликните по найденному результату, появится кнопка со стрелочкой, нажмите на нее.

Общий вес файлов зависит от выбранной местности. Не загружайте ненужные регионы, чтобы не переполнить память устройства.

Во время поездки офлайн-карты включаются автоматически. Если связь с интернетом восстановилась, навигатор переключится в обычный режим, загрузит информацию о пробках, камерах и дорожных событиях. Обновлять данные можно самостоятельно или настроить автоматическую загрузку файлов по WiFi.

Вариант 3: Google Карты

Скачать карту России для навигатора Google можно через меню. Для этого нужно подключить смартфон к интернету и выбрать нужный регион.

Установка карт в навигацию от Google выполняется следующим образом:

1. Запустите навигатор, кликните по клавише меню сверху слева.
2. Пролистайте список до пункта «Офлайн-карты», нажмите на клавишу со стрелкой и подписью «Выбрать карту».
3. Выберите нужный участок с помощью рамки, тапните по кнопке «Скачать».
4. Примерный размер атласа указан под рамкой.

С помощью рамки можно загрузить местность не только России, но и зарубежных городов.

Загруженные файлы могут занимать много места. Если в памяти устройства не хватает места, можно скачивание на флешку:

1. Кликните по шестеренке сверху справа, включите автоматическое обновление с помощью кнопки.
2. Кликните по строке «Хранение данных», выберите установленную флеш-карту.

Закачивать атласы для навигации Google можно бесплатно. Переключение в офлайн режим осуществляется автоматически при потере соединения с интернетом.

Крафт, или как сделать карту

Используя компас и бумагу в нужном количестве, можно скрафтить карту (пустую). В этом случае он размещается в центральной ячейке верстака.

Как сделать карту:

Отметим, что пустая карта для ПК-версии, консольного издания и для карманного издания, отличаются. Указанный рецепт крафта подходит для Майнкрафта Java и Legacy Console. В карманном издании, чтобы сделать пустую карту, надо все ячейки
верстака заполнить бумагой.

Карты изначально не показывают местоположение. Для добавления данной функции нужно объединить карту с компасом на наковальне (либо в сетке крафта в Windows 10 издании).

В реальной жизни существуют несколько видов компаса:

• магнитный;
• горный;
• астрономический;
• гирокомпас.

Но это еще не все — бывают компасы, ориентирующиеся на положение искусственных объектов: радиокомпас, спутниковый компас. Компас — compassio (итал.) от compassare — измерять шагами.

Мир «Майнкрафта» огромен и разнообразен, но при этом вам не выдается ни указаний, ни справок, ни даже карты местности, по которой вы могли бы сориентироваться. Все обстоит точно так же, как в реальной жизни, если бы вы попали на неизвестную вам территорию — придется запоминать, где какие деревья стоят, где растут кусты и где трава гуще, чтобы найти то место, откуда вы пришли. Все это очень сложно и утомительно, но при этом вы можете воспользоваться своими навыками А для этого вам потребуются определенные инструменты, например, компас. Если вы отправляетесь в дальнее путешествие, вам обязательно нужно знать, как сделать компас в «Майнкрафте», чтобы всегда иметь шанс вернуться назад и не заблудиться.

«Прогород»

Платная программа от отечественных разработчиков. Содержит подробные карты России и свыше 60 стран мира. Постоянное наличие Интернета для стабильной работы не требуется (достаточно подключить его для установки обновлений или для отслеживания пробок).

Приложение имеет голосовое сопровождение и опцию «Пробки», оповещающую о заторах на дорогах и объездных маршрутах. «Антирадар» предупреждает о камерах наблюдения за скоростным режимом и «лежачих полицейских». Интерфейс удобный, перекрестки и развязки выполнены детально, что упрощает передвижение в больших населенных пунктах.

IGO

Навигатор от венгерских программистов предлагает качественно прорисованные 3D-карты России и свыше 70 стран мира. Оснащен голосовым управлением. Работает на iOS, Android, Windows CE, Windows 10. Есть отдельная версия – IGO Primo Truck для грузового автотранспорта.

Навигатор от Google предлагает карты России и свыше 220 стран мира. Строит маршруты для передвижения на машине, пешком и на общественном транспорте. Использует GPS для определения местоположения пользователя. Сообщает информацию о степени загруженности дорог, наличии пробок. Карты простые, понятные, интерфейс минималистический, в меню нет лишних функций.

Приложение не предупреждает о камерах фиксации, нарушении скоростного режима и будет полезно в первую очередь пешеходам или людям, пользующимся общественным транспортом. С его помощью можно найти объект на карте, посмотреть его фото, выбрать оптимальный маршрут. Для передвижения на автомобиле программа также подходит, но это не ее основная задача.

WAZE

Бесплатный навигатор для Android, iPad и iOS. Оснащен голосовым сопровождением, в режиме реального времени показывает загруженность дорог, пробки, посты ГАИ, подбирает альтернативные варианты объезда. Данные добавляют сами водители: передвигаясь по городу, они могут сообщать об авариях, опасностях, пробках или указывать другую полезную информацию, вплоть до цен на бензин на заправках.

WAZE

Приложение запоминает часто посещаемые места, продолжительность поездок и автоматически предлагает построить маршрут при включении. Поддерживается отображение объектов POI. Карты городов и дорог актуальные, постоянно редактируемые сообществом WAZE.
